I recently had the privilege of working with The Great Master of Funk himself, Count Bass D (no not Mr. Fantastik!). Count Bass D has been bubbling in the underground for years, producing quality music and records. The longevity he’s built in the hiphop/rap/funk realm has sustained his career, now spanning over decades- which is pretty rare. He’s worked with Snoop Dogg, Beastie Boys, and MF DOOM, just to name a few. I’ve been into his music since a young person. I first heard of Count Bass D on a compilation album put together by Pigeon John of LA Symphony. Called “The Coalition”, released in 2000. He did a song called “I Know” on the project and I’ve been looking out for Count Bass D popping up on various projects and his own records ever since.
The video we produced is for “Purchase Necessary 2” a record released with Snoop Dogg. You can find it here. I’m glad we got to connect after all these years of listening to his music. Dwight is a stand up guy, someone we all want to see win. Oh yea, he’s super funky too. Check out the video below. It’s a combination of simple 3 frame animations, and smooth cinematic drone shots.
